Embracing the internet and keeping our children and young people safe

Foster Care Connect recently took part in Safer Internet Day 2016. Foster Carers, Staff and Panel Members have all been learning how to make the most of the worldwide web in a way which encourages a healthy appetite for all that the internet offers. On Tuesday 1st March David Wright and Ken Corish, from UK Safer Internet Centre, provided us with a fantastic summary of what we need to be thinking about and how to promote safe internet usage. Discussions centred around the importance of our involvement in the ‘playground’ that our children and young people choose to be part of. We don’t need to be technical experts, our expertise in communicating and connecting with children and young people will be what helps us to promote a healthy relationship with the internet. Everyone at Foster Care Connect came up with some great suggestions as to how we can make this happen. Watch this space!
